The concert “Munir Nurettin Selçuk, the voice of the Republic for 100 years” was held in the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall in Istanbul City Municipality (IMM). The concert, held on the anniversary of the death of Münir Nurettin Selçuk and the 100th anniversary of the Republic, was organized by the artist’s grandson, Nükhet Sirel.
At a concert conducted by İhsan Özer, the song “Yasemen Göğüşüsü Open Gel Yanıma” from 1952, which was found from the artist’s notes, met music lovers for the first time.
At the concert, where Incala Bertuğ and Hüseyin Kıyak participated as narrators, soloists Münip Utandı, Mustafa Doğan Dikmen, Güzin Changeless, Çiğdem Yarkın and Bekir Ünlüataer interpreted the works of master artists.
Kıyak pointed out that throughout his artistic life, Münir Nurettin Selçuk did not remain only as a soloist or composer, adding that he passed on a great tradition to generations. He stated that all the pieces performed at the concert were performed in the form of notes that Selçuk learned from his teachers, which he read on records or wrote down in his notebook.
A wide repertoire from the 19th to the 20th centuries was performed at the concert.
